Wow! It’s November. I may or may not have been thinking about Thanksgiving this week. It’s hard to keep one’s brain in the here and now when things get so hectic! It’s been a busy week, and I’m so looking forward to the weekend. I think this might be one of only a few weekends we have with no pressing plans before the craziness of the holidays begins. Oh, wait, that’s not true – it’s the last week before the One Room Challenge BIG reveal! So, scratch that.
Quick recap – We are a willing and excited participant in the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling It Home. We are feverishly making over what we hope will be an inviting and dramatic – in all the best ways – Game Room. For those of you who are new here and visiting from Calling It Home, welcome, I’m glad you’re here!
In week one we shared our ideas for making over our room. Week two, we talked about our plan to bring a little bit of bling and drama to our 22’x13′ space. Weeks three and four we spent a good deal of our time opening and finished off an attic space directly off of the room we are working on, complete with a hidden door.
This week, we were able to tick at least a few things off of our list, starting with this gorgeous wallpaper that I talked about last week during our Wallpaper Makeover blog hop! Check out the how-to here. The paper went up like a breeze – or would have had someone with some wallpaper experience been hanging it – and looks exactly as I’d pictured it. It adds drama and depth. It’s the perfect transition between the stark white of the walls and built-ins and the black gloss of the ceiling. I might love it a little bit. Huge thanks to Stephanie at Casa Watkins Living for organizing such a fun blog hop!
We also finished building the shelves over the bench seating.
We’ve finished the board and batten – finally! We used our handy-dandy Wagner Flexio Paint Sprayer, which by the way, I’ll never, ever let go, to get one coat of paint up. I didn’t estimate the amount of paint I’d need very accurately – womp womp. Protecting our new black ceilings and gorgeous wallpaper was a necessity, but now I know what ET felt like, buried under all of that plastic! #ETgohome
Today will be the pool table move. I can’t tell you how buried this thing has been because it was honestly too embarrassing to document on film, but imagine everything you can see in the general vicinity of the table now was on TOP of it last week. Maybe the lawnmower wasn’t on top of it.. but EVERYTHING else. That will give you an idea. I am 110% sure I’ve found my next organization project!
I still have to finish off our snack bar, along with some of the other smaller projects that I’ll share early next week.
There are still some deliveries coming this week, such as.. well.. Pretty much everything except the pool table! No biggie. Everything is always delivered on time with no issues of receiving the wrong product or color. Said no one ever.
It’ll be okay. Really. Right?
At least I can say there are fewer things on the list than before.
1. Built-in storage bench seating with bookshelves
2. Add a built-in snack bar with wine and spirits area
3. Add a built-in Media cabinet for a TV and other components
4. Create an organized craft-supply closet
5. Bold geometric wallpaper
6. Board and Batten wall trim throughout
7. Dart Board
8. Black Gloss Ceiling
9. Convertible sofa or sofa bed
10. Move and re-felt the pool table
11. Finish attic space to act as storage and a fun secret hide-out
Eeek! See you next week, with what’s left of my sanity!
Wondering where to start? The best place is always the beginning!
