Touch of Fall Home Tour 2016

Fall Decorations for Your Home
Hi, and welcome to my Fall Home Tour! I hope you find autumn inspiration galore for fall decorations along with a few easy fall decorating ideas! Thanks to my lovely friend Meg of Green with Decor for coming up with the brilliant idea of a Fall Home Tour hop. This group of talented ladies has ideas for simple and easy fall decorating of every decorating style and skill level imaginable. Even if you aren’t into seasonal decorating, I think you’ll find something that catches your eye, so be sure to check out my fellow bloggers at the end of this post.
Our Story
If you’re popping in from another blog on the Fall Home Tour, welcome! It’s so great to meet you! My small family of seven (ha!) moved into this house about nine years ago. The first few years we spent most of our time keeping everyone alive – five is a fair number of kids. After being relatively successful with that, we decided to tackle a few DIY projects. Since then, little by little, we’ve been making this home truly our own! To learn more about me, my better half and all of those kids, stop by the About Me page. For more about our home and the projects we’ve tackled so far, you can go here for details on our home or check out the myriad of projects in the project library.
But enough talking! On with the lovely pictures!

I don’t know about you, but somehow, the eventual cooler temperatures always light my imagination on fire and bring out my creative side.. not to mention my booties, scarfs, and sweaters.

Although we’ve yet to see too many of those cool temperatures, I know they aren’t far away, and I was dying to break out the plaid and a few pumpkins. I may or may not have overindulged on apple cider.. but I’ll never tell.
I like to change things up around the house and fall gives me another excuse to do that! I’m always changing artwork around my house from one wall to the other and moving accessories in and out of each room. I like doing this – it keeps my environment fresh and moving stuff around is a bit less work than painting and repainting.. but only a bit.
Each room gets a bit of a shuffle, even if it’s just with the throw pillows.

In the kitchen, I’m getting ready to start a project on this shelf area, and I think we’re due for new paint, but for now, the red flows nicely into fall without a lot of effort.

Decorating with fruit is an inexpensive way to add color and texture, and it’s perfect for transitioning between seasons. Although plums are a summer fruit, I loved the dark plum (see what I did there) color against the apples and neutral shade of the pears.

Candle Tutorial |
These rope candles are a super simple and fun DIY!

I was SO excited to pull this dining table out! This is the first time we’ve set the table since we made over our dining room earlier this spring into a dining room/play room multi-purpose space. It’s worked for us beautifully ever since, but most of the time the room is set as a playroom. Let’s be honest, most of the time I’m pulling on the hip waders to get through the toys. But with Fall comes dinner parties and Halloween parties and Christmas parties! Although we hardly eat at a table set like this often – we’re lucky if we can get everyone home at the same time these days! – it’s sure nice to pull out fancy plates and napkins every once in a while.

Thanks for stopping by.. I hope you were able to find something useful! Be sure to pin it for later!
The hip waders, haha you crack me up – I miss you! Love all your fall touches, especially the pumpkins and throw pillows!
I miss your face, too! Can't wait for all of us to get together.. provided I can find my way out of the toys that is. 🙂 Thank you so much for organizing all of this.. you're the best!
Beautiful, Kim! I love all the touches of fall especially in your entryway by the staircase. It looks so welcoming! I really wish it would get cooler here. I'm dying in this hot weather!
Thank you, Amy! I'm so with you! It's tough to think pumpkins and ponchos when it's 85+ degrees outside, but I'm rebelling. I'm over-dressed but there is no turning back now!
Everything looks so warm & cozy! I love the hello fall pillow & your tablescape!

Kim I was cracking up at your comment about just trying to keep everyone alive for the first few years in your home. I only have two kids and I felt the same way! 🙂 Loved your home tour and seeing what a fantastic home you have. Enjoy the season!!
I think we all do sometimes. That has become my motto for the fall – if everyone is alive we're doing alright. Thanks so much for taking a look!
Love the festive colors, you have a happy and lovely house. Lots of great projects.
